How we protect nature with flowering meadows and insect traps

Nature is our most valuable asset. At LIV by Neher, we are actively committed to protecting insects and promoting biodiversity. With our 8,000 square meter flowering meadow and our innovative insect catcher, we are making an important contribution to the preservation of nature. But why is this so important? And how exactly do flowering meadows and insect traps help to protect nature? In this article, we would like to explain our measures and their importance to you.

Insects are the silent heroes of our ecosystems. They pollinate plants, ensure the reproduction of flowers, fruit and vegetables and are an indispensable source of food for many other animals. Without insects, the ecological balance would be upset, which would have serious consequences for the entire environment. Unfortunately, many insect species are threatened by the loss of their habitat, the use of pesticides and climate change. This is where we come in to actively change things.

In 2019, we planted an original 5,000 square meter flowering meadow at Neher Insektenschutz’s company site in Baden-Württemberg. With the construction of the new high-bay warehouse, the area was expanded to 8,000 square meters. This meadow was designed in accordance with the strict requirements of the Habitats Directive (Fauna-Flora-Habitat) to create a valuable habitat for insects, wildflowers and other animals.

• Habitats Directive: The meadow was designed to meet the requirements of the EU Directive on the conservation of natural habitats. This means that it is specifically designed to promote biodiversity.
• Careful maintenance: Our meadow is only mowed twice a year to protect the habitat of the insects. After mowing, we leave the cuttings lying around for a while so that the plants can self-seed and the meadow continues to bloom.
• Expansion through our new warehouse: With the construction of our new high-bay warehouse, we have once again expanded the flowering meadow to offer the insects even more space.

This meadow is not only a paradise for bees, butterflies and other insects, but also a symbol of our commitment to nature.

Our LIV insect catcher is another centerpiece of our commitment to nature. It was developed to gently and safely remove insects from living spaces without harming them. Instead of killing insects, they can simply be caught with the insect catcher and released back into nature.

• Easy to use: The insect catcher is easy to use and allows you to catch insects safely without hurting them.
• Sustainable materials: The insect catcher is made of 100% recyclable plastic and is produced in Germany.
• Social responsibility: The insect catcher is produced in cooperation with Lebenshilfe Landkreis Tuttlingen e.V., an organization that supports people with disabilities.

With every insect catcher sold, we donate 40 cents to the Netzwerk Blühende Landschaft (NBL). This donation makes it possible to create one square meter of flowering meadow in Germany. The NBL is an initiative that has been working to create flowering habitats for insects since 2003. Together with local partners, the network creates flowering meadows, provides high-quality seeds and advises on the maintenance of the meadows.

Flowering meadows are an important habitat for insects. They provide food, shelter and nesting opportunities for bees, bumblebees, butterflies and many other species. At the same time, they contribute to the preservation of biodiversity and promote the health of our ecosystems. Every donation to the Flowering Landscape Network is a direct contribution to the protection of nature.
