DIY Easter Decorations from Natural Materials – sustainable, spring-like, and super easy to make yourself

Feb 26, 2026 Paola Mazza

If you love natural Easter decorations and consciously avoid plastic, you'll love this idea: a delicate, handmade Easter decoration made from garden materials, moss, small spring flowers, and warm candlelight. The inspiration comes from the wonderful Caro from @urwuechsig_caroline.wolf, who works with great attention to detail and a deep connection to nature.

Her idea shows how beautiful, simple, and valuable decoration can be when it's made from real materials. And how much joy it brings to create things that are not only pretty but also sustainable.

Materials you will need:

• Willow, climbing knotweed, or dried grasses
• Fresh shoots from the garden
• Moss
• Small flowers including roots (e.g., daisies or wood violets)
• Natural string or raffia
• A wooden plate and/or a flat bowl
• A few pussy willows
• A decorative egg
• Candles – natural candles like our beeswax candles look especially beautiful

Everything you need can be found in the garden, on a short walk, or already at home.

Step 1: Prepare small spring plants

Find some small plants that still have their roots. Daisies or other early bloomers are perfect.

Carefully wrap the roots in some slightly damp moss and secure everything with natural string.

This not only keeps the plants stable but also fresh longer – often they even continue to grow. A small, living spring gift.

Step 2: Form a natural wreath

For the wreath, you don't need any tools like wire or glue.

Loosely intertwine willow branches, climbing knotweed, or dried grasses. The more imperfect and natural, the more harmonious the result will look.

Tip: You can wonderfully tuck a few pussy willows between the branches. They bring a soft, spring-like lightness to the wreath.

Step 3: Arrange and design

Now begins the most beautiful part: arranging.

Place your moss plants, candles, and decorative egg on a wooden plate or in a shallow bowl. If you want to use both, place the bowl with the decoration in the center of the wooden plate – this creates a layered, calm arrangement.

Step 4: Complement the wreath

Place the handmade wreath loosely around your decoration.
It encloses everything without dominating and makes your DIY Easter decoration a real eye-catcher – natural, warm, and inviting.[image_with_animation image_url="6295" image_size="full" animation_type="entrance" animation="None" animation_movement_type="transform_y" hover_animation="none" alignment="center" border_radius="5px" box_shadow="none" image_loading="default" max_width="100%" max_width_mobile="default"]

Your natural Easter decoration is ready

Whether as a centerpiece on the Easter table, a lovely arrangement on the windowsill, or a gift for people who love natural materials: This DIY Easter decoration brings spring into your home and combines creativity with sustainability.

We wish you a peaceful, joyful Easter and much pleasure in creating.
